While the management of The Black Tie Ensemble creates opportunities for its singers to perform, allowing them to generate their own income, it is important for artists to have some form of fixed monthly income that covers essential household expenses as well as the costs of affordable accommodation in the vicinity of the State Theatre. An amount of R1 800 a month suffices for the requirements of an Ensemble member, while the peace of mind that such a fixed monthly contribution brings allows the singers to focus on their craft and so to contribute to their artistic development within The Black Tie Ensemble.
